But that doesn’t matter when you consider all the qualities. The only thing I found wrong about it was the fact that we don’t get enough information about the time and setting. To conclude, Invisible Emmie is a terrific book. I know I can! But, I still think this book would be funny and entertaining for kids a little younger, or a little older. I would recommend this book especially for middle-schoolers (ages 11-14), because they can probably understand, and relate the most to certain things happening in the story. I’m not going to reveal the message now, you’ll have to find it out yourself. And at the end is where you start understanding the moral, which I think is important to anyone who reads this book. It was unexpected, creative and it was a happy ending.

Now, I want to talk a little about the ending. I would call it a comedy, because the main character is pretty funny! Invisible Emmie will make you chuckle, if not, it’ll at least give you a little smile. The author doesn’t give readers many details on time or setting. The majority of the book takes place in Lakefront middle school in wintertime. The author made it easy to understand who they are, based on pictures, things they say, and the way Emmie describes them. They create more drama, comedy and each one of them gives the reader different emotions, such as anger, empathy, etc. I think all the main characters make the story a lot more interesting. There are more characters to the story, but they don’t have much importance. And of course, there’s always that one idiot type character included. There’s also Brianna, Emmie’s best friend, and their crushes, Tyler Ross and Anthony Randall. Of course, Emmie (the main character), is introduced, as well as Katie.

There aren’t too many characters that are mentioned in the story. Things like the cute cartoons, jokes, feelings of the characters and certain conflicts make it interesting to read. While I read it, my mind falls out of the real world, and into the story. In my opinion, this book is very entertaining. Their lives unexpectedly intersect one day, when an embarrassing note falls into the wrong hands. Quiet, shy and artistic Emmie, and popular, outgoing, athletic Katie. All ages (but best suited for ages 10 to 14) can find something to enjoy and like in this book.Invisible Emmie is the story of two different girls who attend the same middle school. But also, I just liked Emmie as a character as you get to see the issues we have seen in other books from her point of view and she has a unique one. In many ways, Emmie was me in middle school, therefore, she is reliable. While I have liked all the graphic novels that I have read of Libenson, I think Invisible Emmie might be my favorite. And this, just might give you clue to the surprise at the end of the book. Of course, we know that Libenson did both themselves. The fact that it looks like two different illustrators had done the illustrations is also very interesting. The fun style choice for the illustrations (Emmie’s story in light colors, little detail, almost faded) and the other girl (bright colors, detail panels and bold) help you see the personality. One not so popular and one the most popular in the school. We see Emmie and another girl go through everyday life.

There are neat twists in the story itself. Yet, each character is one that we know, want to be or are. And that story is the world of middle school. When you see a person through another character’s eyes you start to get a bigger picture of the world Libenson wanted to tell. As well as showing some of the characters from the other books in a different light. Terri Libenson has taken her character Emmie and shown her through her own eyes.
